biography
A world-renowned photographer
since the late 70's, Windy Osborn originally established
her photographic credibility in the 20" bicycle
industry. First published at 14, she showed natural
abilities for photographing sports. Working for
Wizard Publications,
Inc. between
1976 -1991, shooting for
BMX Action
Magazine,
Freestyin'
Magazine and Homeboy
Magazine,
Windy developed a craft and made her mark as a cutting
edge, ground-breaking photographer as well as the only
published, professional, female photographer in the
industry of bicycle motocross, freestyle and
skateboarding.
In
2007 Windy re-entered the
world of photography,
transitioning from film to digital. Although she
appreciates the speed and convenience of working in
digital, Windy uses photoshop as a darkroom and not to
change the reality of her images, only to remove bugs or
dust. The colors you will find in her images are true
and captured naturally without enhancement.
A
common thread in all of Windy's photographs, from
past to present, is the communication of her passion.
She shares, "The beautiful thing about life is, we
always have a choice. We have a choice as to how we see
things. I choose vividly. Georgia O'Keeffe once
pointed out that she painted her flowers big, for if she
painted them small and life size, no one would look to
see the beauty that she saw. I'm with Georgia."
